About

A monthly trend-following mix of commodities and bonds: six equal slices, each holds its commodity only if it outperformed 7–10 year US Treasuries (IEF) over the past month; otherwise that slice parks in IEF. Can range from 0% to 100% bonds.
NutHow it works
Each month the portfolio is split into 6 equal slices: gold (GLD), agriculture (DBA), base metals (DBB), oil (DBO), uranium miners (URA), and timber/forestry stocks (WOOD). For each slice, if it beat 7–10 yr US Treasuries (IEF) over the last ~1 month, hold it; otherwise hold IEF for that slice.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: Sharpe 0.86 (vs SPX 0.82), alpha ~6.7%/yr, max drawdown 15.6% vs 22%, beta 0.22. Inflation-sensitive, diversified real-asset trend mix offering better risk-adjusted downside protection with upside potential.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
