About

A weekly trend switch: when QQQ trends up, own momentum-stock ETFs plus a small 2× S&P 500 slice, gold, and a hedge. When not, rotate to managed futures, bonds, and gold, sized by recent calmness to reduce risk.
NutHow it works
Each week it checks if the Nasdaq-100 fund (QQQ) is in an uptrend (50-day average price above 200-day). If yes: hold “recent winners” stock funds in the U.S., overseas and emerging (SPMO, IDMO, EEMO), a small 2× S&P 500 slice (SSO), plus gold (GLD) and an anti-beta hedge (BTAL). If not: shift to trend-following managed-futures (CTA, KMLM), short-term and muni bonds (AVSF, AVMU), gold, and a diversified long/short factor fund (FLSP). Positions are larger in calmer funds. Rebalanced weekly.
CheckmarkValue prop
Regime-switching, momentum-based strategy with hedges (gold, futures) and diversification. Out-of-sample: ~16.9% annual return, Sharpe ~1.07, Calmar ~1.32, beta ~0.68, max drawdown ~12.8% vs S&P ~13.7%. Stronger risk-adjusted growth, less risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
