About
A high-risk market-timing strategy: buy sharp stock selloffs with leverage, bet on fear when markets look overheated, and otherwise sit in defensive staples or bonds.
Each day, the strategy checks whether big U.S. stock indexes have fallen too hard or risen too fast recently.
If tech stocks look heavily sold off, it buys a 3x leveraged tech fund. If stocks look overheated, it buys UVXY, a very aggressive fund that tends to benefit when market fear jumps.
If neither extreme is happening, it moves to a defensive position and picks either consumer staples or bonds—whichever looks more beaten down.
Out-of-sample edge: 23.92% vs 21.66% for SPY, with Calmar ~1.06—solid risk-adjusted upside. Expect higher drawdown (~22.66%) and lower Sharpe (~0.75) than the S&P 500, suitable for disciplined risk-tolerant investors.
