About

A one‑position macro strategy that rotates among: YCS (betting the yen falls), GLD (gold), or IGHG (rate‑hedged investment‑grade bonds). It uses 60‑day trends in bonds vs T‑Bills and the US dollar to decide which to hold.
NutHow it works
Every day it checks two 60‑day signals: 1) If broad US bonds (BND) did worse than T‑Bills (BIL), rates are likely rising. Then it checks the US dollar (UUP): if today’s price is above its 60‑day average, buy YCS (2x short yen); otherwise buy GLD (gold). 2) If bonds did as well or better than T‑Bills, buy IGHG (rate‑hedged investment‑grade bonds).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: max drawdown 8.36% vs SPY 18.76%, Calmar 1.34, and positive alpha. A disciplined macro rotation (yen, gold, rate-hedged bonds) lowers risk and improves risk-adjusted return versus the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
