About

An all‑weather “Dragon” portfolio that balances stocks, Treasuries, gold, commodities/managed futures, and long‑volatility. It uses simple trend and overbought/oversold checks to tilt risk and adds volatility hedges during panics.
NutHow it works
The portfolio is split into five sleeves: stocks, Treasuries, gold, commodities/managed futures, and crash protection. - If stocks are trending and calm, it owns SPY/QQQ/DIA; if shaky or rates rise, it shifts to Dow, cash‑like bonds, the US dollar, or mild shorts. - If volatility surges, it adds VIX funds (UVXY/VIXM). - Treasuries (TLT) are owned when trending and not overheated; otherwise it hedges via dollar/short‑Treasury or pairs TLT with gold. - Managed futures/commodities (DBMF, FAAR, COM) run steadily in the background.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, the Dragon portfolio delivers higher risk-adjusted returns (Sharpe ~2.17 vs SPY ~1.36) and far smaller drawdowns (≈4% vs ≈19%), with Calmar ~3.93—thanks to diversified stock/bond/gold/volatility hedges.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
