This strategy checks the market every day and asks: is the market calm, overheated, falling, or panicking? If fear suddenly spikes, it hides in Treasury bills. Otherwise it looks at whether the S&P 500 is in a healthy long-term trend. In good conditions it leans into aggressive tech or falling volatility. In weak or scary conditions it shifts to defensive funds, short-term bonds, or sometimes a bet against tech.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
