About

Daily, rotate among UPRO (3× S&P 500), SHY (1–3 yr Treasuries), and BIL (1–3 mo T‑bills). Use a 1% volatility filter on SPY; in calm markets, buy dips in stocks via UPRO when stocks look weaker than Treasuries (RSI). Otherwise, stay in Treasuries.
NutHow it works
Each day the strategy: 1) Checks if the S&P 500 (SPY) has been calm: past‑14‑day daily swings under ~1%. If not calm, hold BIL (1–3 month T‑bills). 2) If calm, compare recent “heat” (RSI) of SPY vs SHY (1–3 yr Treasuries). RSI is a 0–100 score; low = more sold‑off. - If SPY’s RSI is lower, buy UPRO (3× S&P 500) to “buy the dip.” - Else, hold SHY.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample annualized return ~49.8% vs ~22% for SPY; Sharpe ~1.91 vs ~1.29; drawdown ~17.87% vs ~18.76%; beta ~0.62. A volatility-filtered, buy-the-dip strategy delivering superior risk-adjusted growth vs the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
