About

Daily, it flips between defensive and risk‑on based on recent drops in tech (QQQ) and long Treasuries (TMF). Holds gold, US dollar, long Treasuries, and 3x tech/financials, sized by recent calmness. High volatility and leverage risk.
NutHow it works
Each day it runs two drop tests. 1) If Nasdaq‑100 fund QQQ is down >≈6% from a recent high over ~10 days, go defensive. 2) Else, if long US Treasuries (TMF) fell more than their typical 1‑yr choppiness, go defensive. Defensive = GLD (gold), UUP (US dollar), TMF (3x Treasuries), TQQQ (3x Nasdaq‑100), FAS (3x financials), weighted more to the calmer ones (~45 days). Else risk‑on: mostly TMF; small slices in TQQQ/FAS. Uses 3x funds; can be very volatile.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample shows negative annualized return (-1.35%), near-zero Sharpe, and larger drawdowns (13.9%) vs S&P (5.1%). Yet this tactical, volatility-weighted diversifier shifts to GLD/UUP/TMF in stress to defend a broader portfolio.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
