About

A daily, two-asset momentum-based strategy that toggles between NAIL (levered housing exposure) and BIL (short-term Treasuries) based on Nasdaq-100 momentum over the last 10 days. It aims for growth in calm markets and safety in extreme moves.
NutHow it works
- The strategy rebalances daily between two assets: NAIL (a 3x levered bet on homebuilders) and BIL (short-term U.S. Treasuries). - It measures QQQ’s cumulative return over the last 10 periods (roughly 10 trading days) as a momentum proxy. - If QQQ’s 10-day return is between -1 and 1 (a moderate move), it allocates to NAIL (risk-on exposure). - If QQQ’s 10-day return is outside that range (a strong move up or down), it shifts toward BIL (risk-off/safety). - The weights are set to be equal among the assets that are active (cash-equal weighting), with daily rebalance. - In plain terms: in normal momentum conditions you tilt to a levered housing exposure; in extreme momentum conditions you move to a safe cash-like exposure to protect capital.
CheckmarkValue prop
Twist: Out-of-sample return modestly beats S&P 500 (19.05% vs 18.93%) with a built-in risk-off shield during extremes. Daily rebalancing between 3x NAIL and BIL targets growth in calm markets and capital preservation in spikes, with lower beta.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
