About

An aggressive, leveraged, trend-following portfolio: 3x S&P core, a gold/VIX hedge, rotating 2x stock sectors, a value sleeve, and commodity trades that switch to cash when momentum is weak. Aims for high returns with high volatility and deep drawdown risk.
NutHow it works
The portfolio has five parts: (1) 15% in a 3x S&P 500 fund. (2) 25% in a “hedge” split between 2x gold and a 2x VIX fund, giving more weight to the calmer one. (3) 25% rotates into the two strongest stock sectors (200‑day trend) using 2x sector funds. (4) 20% in value funds, favoring steadier ones. (5) 15% in commodities that are only held when their last 42 days beat T‑bills; otherwise, that slice sits in cash. Rebalanced when weights drift.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample: about 22.3% annualized return vs 15% for the S&P, Sharpe ~1.21 and Calmar ~5.36. Drawdowns are larger (4.16% vs 2.58%), but the risk-adjusted gains in uptrends are robust.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
