About

Rules-based trend strategy: when the S&P 500 is above its 50‑day average, hold global stocks with a small‑value tilt; when it’s below, cut stocks to 30% and shift 70% to short- and intermediate-term US Treasuries.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks if the S&P 500 (SPY) is above its 50‑day average price. If yes: invest 100% in stocks—VTI (US market), VEA (developed ex‑US), VWO (emerging), plus AVUV/AVDV (small “cheap” stocks). If no: keep 30% in those stocks and move 70% to US Treasury bonds (VGSH short‑term, SPTI intermediate).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy matches SPY on risk-adjusted return while cutting downside: max drawdown 3.51% vs 5.07%, Calmar 10.36, Sharpe ~2.92 vs ~2.94, plus global diversification and small-value tilt for smoother growth.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
