About

Daily trend switch using SPY’s 200‑day average. Uptrend: 100% global stocks with a small‑value tilt (VTI, VEA, VWO, AVUV, AVDV). Downtrend: ~30% stocks, ~70% U.S. Treasuries (VGSH, SPTI). Seeks to reduce big drawdowns while staying invested.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks if the S&P 500 fund SPY is above its 200‑day average (roughly the average closing price over ~9 months). If yes: hold only stocks worldwide—VTI (US), VEA (developed ex‑US), VWO (emerging), plus small‑value via AVUV (US) and AVDV (intl). If no: cut stocks to ~30% and move ~70% into U.S. Treasuries via VGSH (short‑term) and SPTI (intermediate). Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe 2.91 vs 2.75; drawdown 4.86% vs 5.07%; Calmar 7.21; annual return ~35.01% vs 35.31%. Global diversification with a small-value tilt delivers higher risk-adjusted upside with less downside than the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
