A stock-heavy portfolio that uses the S&P 500’s long-term trend to decide when to stay aggressive in global stocks and when to shift mostly into safer U.S. Treasury bonds.

This strategy watches SPY, a fund that tracks the S&P 500, as a simple “market health” signal. If SPY is above its 200-day average price (its average over about 10 months), the strategy goes mostly into stocks worldwide, led by the U.S. If SPY falls below that line, it turns cautious: it keeps only 30% in stocks and moves 70% into U.S. Treasury bond funds for stability.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
