Modern Permanent Portfolio (Public Edition)

About

A monthly, rules‑based “modern permanent portfolio” that leans into stocks when trends are strong, defends with bonds or low‑vol choices when weak, selectively owns commodities for inflation, keeps a steady income sleeve, and holds a small core of cash, gold, and bitcoin.
NutHow it works
Each month the portfolio rechecks trends and rebalances. - If major stock indexes are trending up, it uses amplified stock funds; if not, it shifts to defensive substitutes (like low‑vol/anti‑beta or unlevered versions). - If Treasuries are trending up, it favors calmer bond mixes; otherwise it holds broad bonds. - Each commodity is held only when it’s recently beating Treasuries; otherwise that slot sits in Treasuries. - A steady income basket always stays invested. - A small core holds cash‑like T‑bills, gold, and a bitcoin‑futures fund.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
