A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A monthly, rules‑based “modern permanent portfolio” that balances growth, bonds, income, and inflation hedges. It goes on offense when trends are strong and shifts to defensive assets when they’re not, plus a small cash/gold/bitcoin core.
NutHow it works
Each month money is spread across four sleeves: Growth (stocks), Bonds (deflation hedge), Income funds, and an Inflation hedge. It checks simple trends: if something has been rising (recent average > older average, or 1‑month return beats Treasuries), it uses the “offense” version (stock indexes, sometimes leveraged, or commodities). If not, it switches to “defense” (market‑neutral BTAL, dividend funds, or Treasuries). A small core always holds T‑Bills, gold, and bitcoin.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: a rules-based four-sleeve strategy that beats SPY on risk-adjusted return (Sharpe ~1.71 vs ~1.30), higher annualized return (~22.5% vs 20.7%), and smaller drawdown (~12.6% vs ~18.8%), with lower beta.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
