About

A daily contrarian trade among metal ETFs (gold, silver, palladium, platinum, steel stocks): always buy the worst performer over the past 10 days, aiming for a quick bounce. Very concentrated and volatile; trading costs and taxes can be high.
NutHow it works
Each day it looks at five metal‑themed ETFs: GLD (gold), SLV (silver), PALL (palladium), PPLT (platinum), SLX (steel stocks). It measures each one’s 10‑day return and picks the worst performer (“bottom 1”). It puts 100% there until tomorrow, then repeats. If nothing qualifies, it holds cash. Goal: buy recent losers for a short‑term rebound (contrarian).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe 3.86 vs SPY 2.34, alpha ~0.87, Calmar 26.29, and 166% annualized return. Lower market beta (~0.58) than the S&P 500, delivering stronger risk-adjusted gains and diversification.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
