About

A daily-tactical strategy that uses momentum signals to tilt into leveraged semiconductor bets (SOXL/SOXS) when conditions look favorable, but moves into near-cash (BIL) and bonds during risk-off periods; it uses RSI-based checks on VIX-related volatility, bonds vs. equities, and SMH to control exposure to semiconductors and protect capital.
NutHow it works
- Goal: ride semiconductor momentum when conditions are favorable, but protect capital in risk-off periods using near-cash. - Safety sleeve: when market fear or risk is high (e.g., RSI(VIXM,14) > 70), the system moves toward BIL (near-cash) and avoids aggressive bets. - Bond vs. equity gauge: if RSI(BND,15) > RSI(QQQ,15), prioritize bonds/risk-off relative strength; otherwise stay more flexible with equity/sector bets. - Semiconductor tilt: when not in risk-off, use SMH momentum to decide semiconductor bets: • If SMH RSI is below ~65, go long SOXL (3x levered semiconductor bull). • If SMH RSI is above ~75, hedge by using SOXS (3x levered semiconductor bear). • If SMH becomes deeply oversold (RSI below ~25), tilt back toward SOXL to attempt a bounce. - Core exposure: alongside the levered moves, a baseline exposure via SOXX (broad semiconductors) is maintained unless overridden by the extreme risk rules. - Rebalance: daily, with a lookback context up to ~90 days for some condition checks. - Assets used include: BIL (cash-like), BND (bonds), QQQ ( Nasdaq 100), SMH (semiconductors index), SOXL (3x semiconductors bull), SOXS (3x bears), SOXX (semiconductors ETF). - Practical takeaway: if you don’t understand leverage or rapid drawdowns, this is a high-risk approach that aims for big upside in a favored sector but can swing sharply in short periods.
CheckmarkValue prop
A risk-managed semiconductor momentum overlay with a risk-off sleeve. It diversifies an S&P core by shifting to near-cash/bonds in volatility, seeking upside in favorable tech cycles—designed as diversification, not a substitute.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
