About
A daily, tactical bet on U.S. financials using 3x ETFs. Usually long (FAS), flips to short (FAZ) only at extreme moves. If short-term drops look steep, it hides in T‑Bills (BIL). High risk due to leverage and frequent trading.
It trades two 3x financial-sector funds: FAS (goes up when bank/financial stocks rise) and FAZ (goes up when they fall). First, if either just dropped hard over 2 days, it parks in BIL (T‑Bills). If things look calm, it mostly holds FAS. It flips to FAZ only when FAS looks extremely “hot” (RSI>80; RSI is a 0–100 score of recent speed). If FAZ is “hot,” it prefers FAS. Rebalanced daily.
Though out-of-sample returns lag the S&P (about 4.6% vs 18%), this strategy offers disciplined risk control, a built-in cash hedge (BIL) during turbulence, and a distinct, low-correlation exposure to financials—making it a valuable diversification tool in a balanced portfolio.
