About

A rules-based, risk-on/risk-off mix. When markets are calm it leans into tech (2x Nasdaq). When choppy it shifts to Treasuries, cash-like T‑bills, staples, gold, the US dollar, and occasionally shorts long bonds—guided by volatility and simple trends.
NutHow it works
Rules watch stock/bond choppiness and recent winners. Calm stocks: buy 2x Nasdaq (QLD). Choppy: use defensive stocks (XLP), market‑neutral low‑beta (BTAL), T‑bills (SHV/SHY), gold (GLD), US dollar (UUP). Calm bonds: own long Treasuries (TLT/TMF). Jumpy: park in T‑bills/hedges. A small sleeve shorts long Treasuries (TMV) only when the selloff looks steady. Trend pieces pick among cash, dollar, commodities (DBC), and gold.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy improves risk-adjusted returns vs SPY: Sharpe ~1.43 vs 1.41, Calmar ~1.96, and drawdowns ~10% vs ~19%. Slightly lower raw return (~19.8% vs ~22.9%), but steadier, crisis-resilient growth.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
