A split strategy: 50% stays in a conservative stock/cash mix, while 50% actively jumps among growth-stock funds, leveraged funds, gold, Treasuries, and a volatility hedge based on market trend and short-term stress signals.

Half the money stays in a safer core mix: 60% S&P 500 (VOO) and 40% very short-term Treasury bills (BIL). The other half actively switches. It first asks: is the U.S. stock market in a long-term uptrend? If yes, it usually owns growth stocks through QQQ, but after sharp drops it may rotate into leveraged stock funds, short-term Treasuries, gold, or a volatility fund. If no, it becomes much more defensive and often prefers gold or safer assets.

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
