About

A rules‑based semiconductor strategy that shifts with market turbulence: buys dips with SOXL, fades spikes with SOXS, and otherwise trends with SMH or top chip stocks. Uses a ~30% hedge in volatility/USD/bonds during stress and SPY’s long‑term trend as a safety check.
NutHow it works
First it checks UVXY (a volatility ETF). If UVXY’s 30‑day RSI (a 0–100 speed‑of‑move gauge) is high, it treats markets as “high vol”; else medium/low. In each regime it reacts to 1‑day moves in semiconductors (SMH): big drops → buy SOXL (3x bull) + ~30% in a hedge (volatility, U.S. dollar, short‑term Treasuries). Big spikes → short with SOXS (3x bear) + some Treasuries. Otherwise it follows the trend using moving averages (average‑price lines), often holding SMH or top chip stocks; SPY’s long‑term trend gates risk.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, the semis strategy targets ~33% annual return vs SPY’s ~21%, offers stronger upside, and uses a volatility/dollar/bond hedge to curb stress draws. But expect larger drawdowns (≈62% vs SPY’s ≈19%).

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
