A rule-based strategy that tries to use leveraged stock funds in good conditions and shift into defensive assets or fear-based funds when the market looks stressed or overheated.

This strategy acts like a market weather system. It first checks a few big warning signs using bonds, emerging-market stocks, and “risk-taking vs safety” assets like timber and gold. If conditions look friendly, it may buy boosted stock funds like UPRO or TQQQ. If stocks look overheated, it switches to UVXY, a fund that usually rises when fear jumps. When conditions look shaky, it leans on defensive assets such as long-term Treasuries (TMF), the U.S. dollar (UUP), gold (UGL), commodities (DBC), utilities (XLU), energy (IEO), or volatility funds (VIXM). It often picks whichever of those have been strongest lately.
