A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A tactical, leveraged risk‑on/off strategy. It watches bonds vs cash and “wood vs gold.” It rides 3x stocks (UPRO, TQQQ) when trends are friendly, flips to VIX (UVXY/VIXM) when markets are overheated, and rotates into safe havens (TMF, UUP, UGL, DBC, XLU, IEO) when needed.
NutHow it works
It flips between “go for it” and “play defense” using simple tells. 1) Canary: if bonds trail cash, use an RSI (a short-term hot/oversold meter) on SPY to buy VIX when too hot, 3x S&P when oversold; otherwise hold top safe havens (USD, Treasuries, gold, commodities, utilities, oil, mid‑term VIX). 2) Else run the normal playbook: if cyclical “wood” beats gold, hold 3x Nasdaq unless it’s too hot (then VIX). If fear is high, blend 3x Treasuries, 3x S&P, and VIX by risk; else pair Treasuries with either VIX (too hot) or 3x S&P. Signals update on thresholds; no fixed rebalance.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy targets higher upside and diversification: ~26.5% annualized vs SPY’s ~18.1%, with lower beta (~0.77) and Sharpe ~0.97. Expect larger drawdowns (~32% vs ~19%); suited for risk-tolerant, diversified portfolios.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
