About
A daily market-timing strategy that switches between a fear trade, an aggressive Nasdaq rebound bet, a SPY/Berkshire stock mix, or safe Treasury bills.
This strategy checks the market every day and chooses one path:
• If the S&P 500 looks extremely overheated, it buys VIXY, a fund that tends to benefit when market fear jumps.
• If not, but the Nasdaq looks heavily beaten down, it buys QLD, a 2x bullish Nasdaq fund for a rebound.
• Otherwise, it compares corporate bonds with large U.S. stocks. If bonds look stronger, it buys SPY and Berkshire equally; if not, it parks in short-term Treasury bills (BIL).
Out-of-sample this strategy shows superior risk-adjusted performance vs the S&P 500: Sharpe 1.96 vs 1.73, Calmar 2.69, max drawdown 6.69% vs 8.89%, and lower beta ~0.35, delivering steadier upside with better downside protection.
