About
A “risk-on unless markets wobble” strategy: it owns growth stocks, financials, and commodities in normal times, but moves fully into short-term Treasuries when the U.S. market shows a sharp recent drop.
This strategy first checks if the broad U.S. stock market (SPY) has dropped more than 5% at any point over the last 17 trading days.
If yes, it moves everything into BIL, a very short-term U.S. Treasury fund that behaves a lot like cash.
If no, it invests 40% in a mix of financial, tech, and crypto-linked stocks; 30% in commodities; and 30% in aggressive growth stocks. Within the stock mixes, the calmer holdings get more weight than the more volatile ones.
Out-of-sample, this strategy targets near-SPY upside (~18.56%/yr) with better risk control: max drawdown ≈14.9% vs 18.8% for SPY, beta ≈0.68, Calmar ≈1.25. A disciplined risk-off switch and diversified sleeves boost risk-adjusted returns.
