About
Daily, it gauges cash vs bonds and whether the S&P 500 looks overheated. It then either buys volatility (UVXY/VIXY), goes long semiconductors (SOXL), goes short semiconductors (SOXS), or sits in cash (BIL). Uses simple recent-moves signals (RSI, 3‑day return).
Daily checks two things: 1) Which is stronger right now: cash-like T‑bills (BIL) or broad bonds (BND), using RSI—a 0–100 score of recent ups vs downs (higher = hotter). 2) Is the S&P 500 (SPY) very hot (RSI>76)?
- If cash (BIL) is hotter than bonds and SPY is very hot: buy a volatility fund (UVXY or VIXY) that tends to rise when markets fall, using ~80% of the portfolio (rest in cash). It picks the one that looks less heated over 13 days.
- If cash is hotter but SPY isn’t very hot: buy SOXL, a 3x bull fund on semiconductor stocks.
- If bonds (BND) are hotter than cash: choose between SOXS (a 3x bear fund on semiconductors) and BIL (cash) based on which did better over the last 3 days.
Tickers used: SPY = S&P 500; BIL = 1–3 month T‑bills; BND = broad US bonds; SOXL/SOXS = 3x up/down semiconductor funds; UVXY/VIXY = funds tied to market “fear/volatility.”
Out-of-sample edge with solid risk-adjusted upside: Sharpe ~1.32, Calmar ~1.58, annualized return ~128% vs S&P ~21%. Tactical shifts to volatility and semis offer big upside and diversification, but watch for large drawdowns.
