About
A daily-rebalanced, rules-based levered Nasdaq strategy that aims for big upside with TQQQ while using cash, Treasuries, and gold as risk controls to protect against drawdowns. It blends momentum/trend signals, risk filters, dip-entry logic, and bear/sideways protections across a wide ETF universe to manage exposure and volatility.
- Objective: aggressively participate in Nasdaq-100 up moves using 3x leverage with TQQQ, while protecting downside with cash and hedges.
- Daily decision: the system runs many sub-strategies (groups) and picks the one with the lowest estimated risk over the last ~70 days (max-drawdown based ranking).
- How it buys: if risk signals are acceptable and momentum is positive, it allocates to leveraged Nasdaq exposure (primarily TQQQ, but also related levers like TECL, SOXL, UPRO in some branches). Cash portions are allocated according to fixed or equal weights in other branches.
- How it hedges/defends: when risk signals elevate or markets look choppy/sideways, the strategy moves into cash and hedges such as BIL (short-term Treasuries), GLD (gold), TLT (long Treasuries), or considers inverse/short levers like SQQQ and PSQ to mitigate drawdowns. Some branches specifically target protective groupings like “Bear Market Sideways Protection” and “Sideways Market Deleverage.”
- Momentum and trend checks: the rules use moving-average comparisons and RSI (momentum) checks over various windows (e.g., 5- or 18- or 60- or 225-day lookbacks) to decide whether prices are above trend or oversold/overbought, influencing entry/exit decisions.
- Dip-buy logic: when conditions show a short-term dip but longer-term trend is still favorable, the strategy may tilt into additional levered bets (e.g., TECL, SOXL, TQQQ) but only after passing risk checks and often within a “Dip Buy Strat” framework.
- Defensive diversification: the approach includes hedges and a diversified defensive basket (BIL, GLD, TLT, BSV) to dampen volatility when the market environment deteriorates.
- Rebalancing: the framework re-evaluates and reweights daily, with the overall portfolio composition driven by the selected sub-strategy and its risk-control logic.
- Target assets: a broad universe around Nasdaq equities and Treasury/Gold hedges, including TQQQ (core), TECL, SOXL, UPRO (alternatives to TQQQ in some branches), SQQQ/PSQ (short hedges), SPY/QQQ/DIA (broad market proxies for hedges/upsides), BIL/GLD/TLT/BSV (defensive assets). The explicit use of these assets implies exposure to equities, technology, bonds, and precious metals, with leverage magnifying potential gains and losses. Overall, the strategy is a robust, rule-driven attempt to capture upside in strong Nasdaq rallies while enforcing risk controls to avoid catastrophic losses, but with a high expected volatility and drawdown potential due to its leverage and active management.
Cap Nasdaq upside with a risk-controlled, 3x-levered strategy. OOS return ~40.9% vs S&P ~21.9%, hedged with cash/treasuries/gold to limit drawdowns. Daily rebalancing targets higher upside with managed risk.
