About
A daily, rule-based momentum/rotation strategy that targets ~60% equity exposure with automatic hedging and sector/asset rotation using RSI and moving-average signals, plus volatility and cash hedges (VIXY, BIL). It leverages a broad mix of ETFs (SPY, QQQ, XLK, XLP, VOX, etc.) and may include leveraged/inverse plays, all governed by a nested decision-tree logic.
- Each trading day, the system decides how to allocate the portfolio based on a big set of rules. Think of it as a smart, automated manager that watches many ETFs and moves money around accordingly.
- Core idea: when momentum is positive, stay invested in equities; when momentum looks risky, shift toward hedges or cash.
- Signals rely on RSI (a momentum gauge) computed over short windows (often 10 days) for several assets. If RSI is very high (overbought territory, e.g., around 80–99), the rules tend to reduce risky exposure or add hedges.
- It also uses moving-average checks (whether an asset’s price is above a short- or long-term average) to gauge trend direction; strong trends boost exposure to that asset, weak trends pull back.
- Relative strength checks compare momentum between assets (e.g., is SPY stronger than a tech ETF, or is VIXY/BIL indicating nerves in the market?). If a given asset shows stronger momentum than another, the system shifts toward the stronger one.
- The portfolio mix is designed to end up with about 60% in equities and 40% in cash-like or hedged positions. The cash/hedge sleeve includes VIXY (volatility exposure) and BIL (short-term Treasuries) intended to cushion drawdowns during spikes in volatility or market lull.
- Leveraged and inverse plays (like TQQQ or PSQ) appear in some branches when signals are particularly favorable or unfavorable, providing amplified exposure or hedging behavior within the equity world.
- The system uses a wide array of tickers (SPY, QQQ, XLK, XLP, VOX, VTV, SOXX, AGG, BIL, VIXY, etc.) to diversify signals, not all will be active at once.
- All of this is configured to rebalance daily, so positions are updated every day based on the latest signals.
A disciplined, automated momentum/rotation strategy that stays with strong trends while hedging risk with VIXY and BIL. It offers diversification and downside protection in volatile markets, complementing a core SPY allocation.
