If conditions look bad, it may switch into Treasury-bond funds, cash-like T-bills, a stronger-U.S.-dollar fund, or even funds that rise when stocks fall, bonds fall, or market fear jumps. In short: it tries to press hard when trends look favorable and quickly defend when they do not.
