About

Rules-based, daily strategy: uses a market trend filter, a bond “canary,” and momentum to own the 4 strongest assets when conditions are good; otherwise holds T‑Bills. Adds a “black swan catcher” that buys UVXY when markets look overheated or jumpy.
NutHow it works
1) Trend check: If SPY is above its 200‑day average, it’s a bull; otherwise a bear. 2) Crash catcher: In bulls, if leveraged stock funds look overheated (TQQQ or SPXL), buy UVXY (a fund that jumps when markets panic). In bears, if volatility heats up, may also buy UVXY; if SPY is very weak, sit in BIL (T‑Bills). 3) Canary: If TIP (inflation‑protected Treasuries) trends up over 1 year, go risk‑on; else hold BIL. 4) Risk‑on: own the 4 strongest recent performers from a mix of leveraged stock, bond, real‑estate, and commodity ETFs. Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out‑of‑sample, this rules‑based strategy targets ~30% annualized returns vs ~21% for the S&P, with Calmar ~1.14—strong risk‑adjusted gains. It blends trend, momentum and a volatility hedge for bigger upside with disciplined drawdowns.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
