About

Half cash, half gold. Use 3x gold (SHNY) when gold is oversold or trending up; otherwise use regular gold (GLD). Signals come from GLD’s 10‑day RSI and 10‑day return.
NutHow it works
Always keep 50% in cash. The other 50% goes into gold: - GLD = SPDR Gold Shares (plain gold fund). SHNY = a 3x daily gold note (very volatile). - If GLD’s 10‑day RSI (a 0–100 score of recent ups vs downs; below 30 = short‑term slump) is under 30, use SHNY. - Else if GLD is up over the last 10 days, use SHNY. - Else use GLD.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe 1.61 vs SPY 0.97; annualized return ~88% vs ~18%; beta ~0.02 means low SPX sensitivity; Calmar ~2.94. Higher drawdown (~30% vs ~19%) is offset by much bigger upside and a 50% cash buffer using GLD/SHNY signals.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
