About

Tactical gold exposure that toggles between GLD (1x) and SHNY (3x). It goes 3x when gold is oversold or trending up, and drops to 1x when the trend is weak.
NutHow it works
This strategy always holds gold, but it switches how aggressively it holds it. - GLD is a large fund that tracks gold’s price (about 1x moves). - SHNY is a note that tries to move about 3x as much as gold each day (higher risk). - It first checks if gold fell hard recently using a 10‑day “oversold” gauge (RSI). If very oversold, it buys SHNY to bet on a bounce. - If not oversold, it asks: has gold been rising lately? If yes, it buys SHNY to ride the uptrend. If no, it holds GLD instead. - It changes positions only when these signals flip, not on a fixed schedule.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this tactical gold strategy beats the S&P on risk-adjusted return: Sharpe ~2.16 vs ~0.98, annualized ~152% vs ~17%, and Calmar ~5.05. It opportunistically leverages gold (GLD/SHNY) for big upside with disciplined drawdown control.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
