About

A tactical gold strategy that toggles between GLD and a 3× leveraged gold note (SHNY). It uses short‑term signals: buy SHNY when gold is oversold or trending up; otherwise sit in unlevered GLD. Always long gold; high risk due to leverage.
NutHow it works
It watches GLD (a large gold ETF) to read gold’s recent action. RSI is a 0–100 “speedometer” of recent moves; below 30 means gold has fallen fast. A positive 10‑day return means gold’s been rising. If either is true, it buys SHNY, a 3× daily gold note (very risky). Otherwise it holds GLD. It always holds one of the two and switches when signals flip.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: Sharpe ~1.61 vs SPY ~0.97; higher risk-adjusted returns with a tactical GLD/3x-levered gold approach. Calmar ~2.94; strong downside management despite larger drawdowns. Adds diversification vs the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
