About

Own gold (GLD) only when gold is rising across short, medium, and long trends; otherwise hold SHV (cash‑like T‑bills). Checked daily.
NutHow it works
Each day it checks gold’s trend using simple averages of past prices. It compares short vs longer averages at three timeframes (~5 weeks vs 3 months, ~3 vs 7 months, ~9 vs 16 months). If all three show “up,” it owns GLD (a gold ETF). Otherwise it parks in SHV, which holds very short‑term U.S. Treasury bills. This keeps you in gold during sustained uptrends and in T‑bills when gold isn’t trending up.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~24.4% annual return vs 22.9% S&P, lower drawdown (10.1% vs 18.8%), and higher Sharpe. Gold only in sustained uptrends; otherwise cash-like Treasuries. Simple, rules-based, no leverage—better risk-adjusted growth than the S&P.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
