A symphony is an automated trading strategy — Learn more about symphonies here

About

A weekly, rules-based rotation. If the S&P 500 is in an uptrend, own the two best‑performing growth/cyclical sector ETFs (from tech, chips, communications, consumer). If not, sit in short‑term Treasuries and gold. Equal weight throughout.
NutHow it works
Each week the strategy does this: 1) Market check: Is the S&P 500 fund (SPY) trading above its average price over the last ~100 days? That’s a simple uptrend test. 2) If YES (uptrend): Look at 4 ETFs—XLK (big U.S. tech), SMH (chipmakers), XLC (Google/Meta-type communications), XLY (Amazon/Tesla-type consumer). Pick the 2 with the best last-60‑day gains and split 50/50. 3) If NO: Hold SHY (short‑term U.S. Treasuries) and GLD (gold), 50/50. Rebalance weekly.
CheckmarkValue prop
Disciplined, rules-based rotation into growth leaders in uptrends and Treasuries/gold in downturns. Even with variable OOS results, it delivers risk control and diversification versus SPY, helping weather shocks and capture momentum.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
