About

Rules-based, daily-rebalanced stock strategy: ride QQQ in uptrends, shift to Berkshire (BRK/A) or a defensive staples/health mix when momentum weakens, and buy some sharp dips. Uses moving averages, RSI, and recent returns since 1999.
NutHow it works
It switches among QQQ (Nasdaq‑100), BRK/A (Berkshire Hathaway), or a defensive mix of XLP (consumer staples) and XLV (health care). Trend = price vs 200‑/25‑day averages. RSI is a 0–100 “heat” gauge (low=washed‑out, high=hot). It buys QQQ in uptrends, parks in Berkshire or staples/health when weak, and occasionally buys sharp dips. In downtrends it’s mostly defensive, with rare rebound buys and a tech‑vs‑energy check. Rebalanced daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, this strategy offers higher upside with lower risk: ~35% annualized return vs ~18.5% for the S&P, Sharpe ~1.73 vs ~1.05, max drawdown ~12% vs ~19%, Calmar ~2.82, beta ~0.83—more return with less market risk.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
