About

A daily, rule-driven strategy that rides tech strength (QQQ) in uptrends, hides in Berkshire (BRK.A) or a defensive mix (XLP/XLV) when conditions are stretched or weak, and occasionally buys dips after sharp sell‑offs using simple heat and trend checks.
NutHow it works
It moves among a few choices based on simple “heat” and trend checks. - RSI: a 0–100 short‑term heat score; >80 = very hot, <30 = very cold. - Moving average: an average price line used to judge trend. - Inverse‑volatility: put more in the steadier of two funds. If the market looks very hot, it parks in Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A). Otherwise it uses a long‑term trend line on the S&P 500 (SPY) to call bull vs bear. In bulls: it prefers QQQ (big tech). If QQQ softens, it shifts to a defensive mix of Consumer Staples (XLP) and Health Care (XLV). In bears: it may buy QQQ after sharp drops, or else choose between Berkshire and the defensive mix. Rebalances daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~40% annual return vs ~19% for the S&P; Sharpe ~1.89 vs 1.04; max drawdown ~12% vs ~19%; beta ~0.82; alpha ~0.20. A rules-based rotation among QQQ, BRK.A and defensives aims for stronger, steadier growth with built-in downside protection.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
