Frontrunner: Energy

About

Uses extreme moves or “very oversold” readings in two energy ETFs as signals to flip into high‑octane trades: fear (UVXY), long chips (SOXL), or short tech (SOXS/SQQQ). Otherwise, it stays in T‑bills (BIL).
NutHow it works
Each day it looks at two energy funds (MLPX and EINC) as warning lights. Big one-day spikes in them → buy a “fear” fund (UVXY). Big one-day slump in MLPX → buy a 3× chip-stock fund (SOXL). If those energy funds look very beaten down (RSI = a 0–100 hot/cold score; low = very cold), it buys a 3× fund that bets against tech (SOXS or SQQQ, whichever fell more that day). If nothing extreme, it sits in T‑bills (BIL).
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample, the strategy delivers superior risk-adjusted returns with much lower drawdowns vs the S&P 500, using energy signals to rotate into tail hedges, leveraged bets, or cash for resilience and consistency.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
