A very active strategy that spends much of its time in cash-like safety, but when conditions look favorable it makes aggressive bets on tech—and can also short the market when trends turn bad.

This strategy checks the market every day and asks: is the market in an uptrend, is it overheated, or is it falling? If things look too hot, it hides mostly in Treasury-bill cash substitutes (BIL) and a defensive fund (BTAL). If conditions are good, it leans hard into aggressive tech funds like TQQQ, TECL, and SOXL. If conditions worsen, it rotates into safer or defensive holdings like SCHD, Treasuries, gold, commodities, volatility funds, or even bearish funds that rise when stocks fall.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
