About

A bear‑market module for ~60% of the portfolio: usually sits in T‑bills, but when the S&P 500 turns bearish it rotates among Nasdaq 100 ETFs (long or inverse, sometimes 2x) using simple hot/cold gauges and trend checks to hedge drawdowns.
NutHow it works
This controls ~60% of the portfolio. If big indexes look too hot (>79) or too cold (<30) on a short-term 0–100 “heat” gauge (RSI), it parks in T‑bills (BIL). Otherwise: if the S&P 500 (SPY) is below its 200‑day average (a bear trend), it trades the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) long or inverse (PSQ/QID), sometimes 2x (QLD/QID), guided by short-term trend and whether Treasuries (TLT/IEF) are strong. Two similar sleeves are blended by recent volatility. Rebalances daily.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample Sharpe 1.23 vs SPY 0.95; OOS return 20.6% vs 17.3%; max drawdown 11.5% vs 18.8%. Negative SPY beta; Calmar ~1.79. A bear-hedge strategy that lowers risk while aiming for higher upside.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
