About
A high-risk portfolio of leveraged sector funds that leans toward the steadier funds and away from the most volatile ones, with major bets on healthcare, chips, energy, and biotech.
This strategy holds a small basket of aggressive sector funds and sizes them based on how bumpy they’ve been over the last 250 trading days (about 1 year). Funds that have swung around less get larger positions; wilder funds get smaller ones.
Its main exposures are healthcare (CURE), semiconductors/chips (USD), energy (ERX), and biotech (LABU). These are leveraged funds, so they try to magnify daily market moves, which makes gains and losses happen faster. It generally only rebalances if positions drift far from target weights.
Out-of-sample, this strategy dramatically outperforms the S&P 500: Sharpe ~2.16 vs ~0.77, annualized return ~76.6% vs ~8.0%, Calmar ~6.88—driven by volatility-weighted leveraged bets in healthcare, semiconductors, energy and biotech.
