About

Usually holds URTH (global developed stocks). When the S&P 500 is trending up but emerging markets get unusually hot and stronger than the US, it flips to EUM to bet on an EM pullback.
NutHow it works
Each day it holds one ETF. If the US market (SPY) is in an uptrend (price above its 200‑day average) and emerging markets (EEM) look overheated (RSI, a 0–100 gauge of recent “hotness,” is above 75.5) and EM’s momentum beats the US (EEM’s RSI > SPY’s), it switches to EUM—an ETF that rises when EM fall. Otherwise it stays in URTH, a broad developed‑world fund spanning major sectors.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample Sharpe ~1.26 vs SPY ~1.20, with lower drawdown (~15.5% vs 18.8%), beta ~0.87 and Calmar ~1.28. A globally diversified core with a opportunistic EM hedge offers steadier, higher risk-adjusted gains than the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
