An aggressive market-timing strategy that rotates between leveraged stock funds, oil, bonds, cash-like T-bills, and crash hedges based on whether the market looks strong, weak, or unusually volatile.

This strategy constantly asks: “Is the market calm, overheated, or falling?” If conditions look extreme, it may buy UVXY, a fund that tends to jump when fear spikes. Otherwise it checks the broad U.S. market. In strong periods, it spreads money across aggressive stock funds, sometimes tech and oil. In weak periods, it may hide in Treasury-bill funds, short-term bonds, or even funds that rise when stocks fall.

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
