This strategy checks the market every day and asks a series of safety questions. If stocks look extremely overheated, it buys UVXY, a fund that can jump when fear spikes. If markets look shaky, it may use funds that rise when the S&P 500 or Nasdaq fall, or hide in short-term government bonds/cash-like funds. In calmer periods, it rotates between broad U.S. stocks, tech stocks, and safe bonds—often choosing the one that has recently lagged, hoping for a rebound.

Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
