About

A rules-based playbook: detect long-term uptrend vs downtrend, then use shorter-term trend and a simple “heat” gauge (RSI) to toggle between SPY, tech/semis on dips, Treasuries for defense, and at times a small short via PSQ. Backtest 2008–23: 19.1% CAGR, 16.5% max drawdown.
NutHow it works
1) First, it asks: is SPY’s 200‑day average above its 1000‑day average? If yes → long‑term uptrend; if no → long‑term downtrend. 2) Then it uses faster trend lines (50 vs 200 days), price vs the 200‑day, and RSI (a 0–100 “heat meter”: <30 oversold, >60 hot) to: - Ride stocks (SPY) - Buy tech/semis on dips (XLK/SOXX) - Shift to Treasuries (SHY/IEI/IEF/TLT) - In bears, sometimes use PSQ to bet against QQQ.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: 23.6% annualized return vs SPY’s 22.1%, max drawdown 12.1% vs 18.8%. Calmar ~1.95; Sharpe ~1.35. Higher upside with far better downside protection than the S&P 500.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
