About

A two-part, short-term momentum stock strategy. Each half compares last-30-day performance to the global index (ACWI). If strong, it buys Emerging Markets (EEM); otherwise ACWI. In practice it holds only EEM and/or ACWI, swinging between 100% ACWI and 100% EEM.
NutHow it works
Split the portfolio in two equal parts. Each half checks the last 30 days of price change. - Half 1: if Emerging Markets (EEM) rose more than the world index (ACWI), hold EEM; else hold ACWI. - Half 2: if Developed ex‑US (IDEV) beat ACWI, it also buys EEM (not IDEV) — likely a quirk. Result: you only ever hold EEM and/or ACWI. A 5% band limits small rebalances.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample momentum strategy tilting between ACWI and EEM delivers higher returns with lower risk vs the S&P 500: ~28.7% annualized vs 16.4%, max drawdown ~15% vs 18.8%, Calmar ~1.91, Sharpe ~1.68 vs 0.93.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
