About

Daily contrarian portfolio: from 11 commodity-related equities, buy the seven worst performers over the last 30 days, evenly weighted, with the rest in cash, and rebalance daily to seek mean-reversion.
NutHow it works
- Start with a list of commodity-oriented stocks: Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM), Targa Resources (TRGP), Alamos Gold (AGI), Pilgrim's Pride (PPC), Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM), Antero Resources (AR), Franco-Nevada (FNV), Energy Transfer (ET), Range Resources (RRC), Gulfport Energy (GPOR), Corteva (CTVA). - Each day, look back over the last 30 days and calculate how much the price of each stock has changed in total during that period (its 30-day cumulative return). - Rank all 11 stocks from worst performer to best performer over those 30 days. - Choose the seven stocks with the lowest 30-day performance (the ones that dropped the most). - Invest equally across those seven stocks (equal-weighted). Any remaining capital stays in cash rather than being invested in those assets. - Repeat this process every trading day, rebalancing to the new set of seven and the cash total. - The idea is a contrarian bet: buy stocks that have recently underperformed with the hope they rebound, while avoiding stocks that have already done well.

Low-market beta diversifier: a daily contrarian fund that targets mean-reversion in commodity equities. Even with lower OOS return vs SPY, Calmar ~1.16 signals solid risk-adjusted performance and diversification potential when market regimes turn.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
