About

Daily shifts between 3× S&P 500 (UPRO) and long Treasuries (TLT). Only buys UPRO when stocks are calm and look washed‑out versus short‑term bonds; otherwise stays in TLT. Uses 15 lookback/volatility settings and equal-weights their signals.
NutHow it works
Each day, money is split across 15 mini-rules. For each rule: 1) Check if the S&P 500 (SPY) has been calm (low choppiness). 2) If calm, compare “heat” (RSI: a 0–100 gauge of how stretched or sold‑off prices are) of SPY vs a short‑term Treasury fund (SHY). If SPY looks washed‑out (lower RSI), buy UPRO (3× S&P 500). Otherwise hold TLT (long Treasuries). If not calm, hold TLT.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample edge: ~39.8% annualized vs SPY ~22.6%, Calmar ~1.04. A rules-based blend of 3x equity in calm markets and Treasuries otherwise—higher upside with solid risk control, but drawdowns can exceed SPY in tough spells.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
