About

A daily, rules-based toggle between UPRO (3× S&P 500) and SHY (short‑term Treasuries). It only leans into UPRO when the stock market looks calm and stocks appear more beaten‑up than bonds; otherwise it sits in SHY. The final mix is an average of 15 small signals.
NutHow it works
Each day it splits your money across 15 small “slices.” For each slice it asks: 1) Has the S&P 500 been calm lately (low recent bumpiness)? If not, that slice parks in SHY (short‑term Treasuries). 2) If calm, do stocks look more beaten‑up than bonds right now? If yes, that slice buys UPRO (a 3× S&P 500 fund); if not, it stays in SHY. All slices are averaged, so you end up with some mix of UPRO and SHY, rebalanced daily. SPY (the S&P 500 tracker) is used only to read the market’s condition.
CheckmarkValue prop
Out-of-sample performance shows higher risk-adjusted returns and bigger upside vs the S&P 500: oos Sharpe 1.61 vs 1.38, oos annualized return ~49% vs 22%, Calmar ~1.34, with 15 diversified sub-models and volatility-driven UPRO/SHY tilts.

FAQ

A Composer symphony is an automated trading strategy that executes trades based on parameters of your choice. Some symphonies are similar to holding one ETF in normal conditions and rotating to a different ETF when market conditions shift, for example a 5% drop in the S&P 500, while others use complex rules with dozens of triggers. However, complex doesn’t always mean better. A simple, well-structured symphony can be just as effective as an intricate one. Learn more about how symphonies work here.
