About
A monthly strategy that first asks, “Is the overall stock market healthy?” If yes, it holds the strongest stock from a selected list. If no, it shifts into the strongest defensive bond or Treasury fund.
Once a month, the strategy first checks if the U.S. stock market is in a healthy uptrend by seeing whether SPY (an S&P 500 fund) is above its 200-day average price.
If yes, it buys the single strongest recent performer from a list of stocks like Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Amazon, Google, plus a few non-tech names and short-term Treasuries.
If not, it moves defensively and buys the strongest recent performer among long-term Treasuries, high-yield bonds, short-term Treasuries, and municipal bonds.
Out-of-sample edge: ~35% annualized return vs ~15% for the S&P; Sharpe ~1.24 vs ~0.96; Calmar ~1.28. Note higher drawdown (~27% vs ~19%). Regime-switching momentum targets upside with downside protection.
